Explanations to the above table
available funding
This funding from the EU INTERREG V program, which ran from 2014-2020, was made available for the entire period. The Small Projects Fund could not start until the end of 2015, but projects can be approved for it until the end of 2021
approved
Projects not approved by the Local Monitoring Committee (LLA) were either rejected, withdrawn by applicants prior to decision, or deferred by the LLA for review and then not resubmitted.
The corresponding funding was committed upon approval, although it was not necessarily fully disbursed in the end (see below)
in implementation
These projects are currently taking place or settlements are being prepared.
in billing
The billing for the projects has been submitted and is currently being reviewed.
paid
The accounts of these projects have been audited and the funding has been disbursed. This includes projects that had their funding completely cancelled after the statement was audited, as well as those that filed an appeal.
in objection
The executing agencies of these projects have filed an objection to the result of the settlement audit, which is currently still under review. The funding recognized in the result of the settlement audit has been disbursed.
The values in the funding columns represent the amounts that the project sponsors still want to receive in the appeal process.
cancelled
After approval in the Local Monitoring Committee, these projects either did not start at all, were cancelled during implementation (e.g., due to the pandemic), did not settle, or did not respond to follow-up requests for documentation for too long.
funding approved but not used
These grants were originally approved for projects but then either not needed by them (which is quite common) or not disbursed due to disallowance of expenses in the financial statement audit.
remaining funding through the end of 2021
Projects may be approved through the end of 2021. The funding still available for this purpose is made up of funds that have not yet been committed and those that were approved but then not needed after all
percentage values
Percentages refer to the parent value in each case, indicated by the indentations.
